The Process of Penmaking

Pens begin with "blanks" of wood. |
Blanks are cut in half and drilled through the middle. |

Pens have copper tubes inserted through the drilled holes. |
Craftsman begins the process of turning the wood. |

The lathe tools cut away the wood as the lathe spins, rounding the square blanks. |
The blank on the right has become rounded; the one on the left is partially rounded. |
